Teaching additional phonemes 'air', 'ear', and 'ure'

You can teach the phonemes 'air', 'ear', 'ure' using Whiteboard Active CD ROM 3. To do so, cut and paste text onto the notepad pages of the CD ROM, as outlined below.

air
You can teach children the phoneme 'air' when you are teaching 'ar'. Cut and paste the following text on one of the notepad pages of phoneme 'ar':

Say the sound 'air' and write the grapheme on the whiteboard. Ask children if the following words contain the sound 'ar' or 'air': stair, car, fair, hair, star, far.

ear
You can teach children the phoneme 'ear' when you are teaching 'ee'. Cut and paste the following text on one of the notepad pages of phoneme 'ee':

Say the sound and write the grapheme on the whiteboard. Ask children if the following words contain the sound 'ee' or 'ear': fear, see, tear, near, three.

ure
You can teach children the phoneme 'ure' when you are teaching 'OO'. Cut and paste the following text on one of the notepad pages of phoneme 'OO':

Say the sound and write the grapheme on the whiteboard. Ask children if the following words contain the sound 'oo' or 'ure': sure, boot, pure, loot, cure.
